Food Waste



Definition


Food waste or food loss is food that is left uneaten or are thrown away. Other than that , food waste also referred to food that is loss during any of the four stages of the food supply chain.



The Four Stages of Food Supply Chain


1. Producers


People or organizations which transforms raw ingredient into prepared food products. Food production includes industries that take raw food products and convert them into marketable food items while home food production includes converting produce into forms for long-term storage.

Four countries that produce most food is China , India , United States and Brazil.


2. Processor


A food processor is a kitchen appliance used to facilitate repetitive tasks in the preparation of food.

Food processors normally have multiple functions depending on the placement and type of attachment or blade.

3. Retailers


Retail food is all food , other than restaurant food , that is purchased by consumers and consumed off-premise.

Retail food comes in all shapes and sizes and is protected by numerous government agencies.


4. Consumers

Consumers are customers which buy food products that were prepared by producers.
